This week we have felt a wind sent by the fishing gods to bless KZN with an abundance of catches. Despite the touch of an early morning winter bite, anglers are still enjoying the spoils of the summer species with South Coast, Kingsburgh and Durban reaping the rewards from these conditions from all facets of fishing.

Offshore:

The offshore fishing has been a good combo of bottom fish and gamefish, which has come through at the perfect time as we reach the peak of the ski boat competition season.

Rock & Surf:

Diamonds are not just a girl’s best friend, especially not between Warner Beach and Addington. If there was ever a time to land a fish from the beach weighing between 30 – 50kg’s, this was it! Reels were screaming for days with non-edibles from lower South Coast to Durban, even if you were targeting the good size Shad on the bite, you were being stripped with Rays.

Freshwater:

The freshwater fishing has seen great fishing in all facets with slower but still exciting Bass action, big Carp and Trout mania.
For a greater insight into this week’s fishing report, make sure to listen to our podcast (Angler News SA) and tune in on Monday where we are talking about Understanding Winds with Dave Irving.
Until next week, always remember, keep your fishing area tidy, respect your bag limits and Fish for the Future.
